Tip: enter the position first, then the direction if you know it. Fields with a downward arrow are selection menus: choose the value that best matches your observation.
Field mode On a smartphone: 1. point, 2. flight path, 3. required information, 4. confirmation/submission. The cone shows a weighted search area.
Standard Lite cone: 1.2 km and ±25°. These values are saved with the report to remain compatible with the future Flight Analyzer PRO.

Use the eight main directions above. For a more precise direction, tap the map around the yellow point. Intermediate directions such as SSW, ENE or NNW are detected automatically.
In the field, keep “Standard” unless you are very sure of the flight path.

Important to know

  • An arrow corresponds to a flight direction reported by an observer.
  • A coloured zone indicates an activity area to monitor, not the confirmed location of a nest.
  • Several recent observations improve the collective interpretation of the area.
  • Advanced analysis and triangulation are reserved for the Vespa Flight Analyzer PRO module.

Why report a flight direction?

An Asian hornet observed in flight can provide a useful indication of its movement axis. When several observations are recorded in the same area, the reported directions can help local teams, municipalities and partners better target the search. Field verification nevertheless remains essential.
